Line Up

Irlam Live 2017 is almost here and we are thrilled to have a host of top names playing our town. This year we have introduced a second stage in the form of a Big Top with a combination of live acts, specialty acts and DJ sets playing between the main stage.  Here is a little information guild and times the artists play the main stage.

The Wailers are coming to town with the legendary Junior Marvin leading the line, performing all the songs we know and love. We are absolutely thrilled to bring The Wailers featuring Junior Marvin to Irlam Live 2017. Junior Marvin joined the Wailers in the seventies and since Bob Marley died in 1981 has continued to play with The Wailers in live shows and festivals all over the world.

All the big tunes we know and love Stir It Up, Waiting in Vain, Jammin’, Could You Be Loved, Three Little Birds, One Love/People Get Ready, Buffalo Soldier, Get Up Stand Up, Is This Love, to name a few. Also the ‘Exodus’ album that was voted, “Best Album of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine.

Supporting The Wailers we have Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot from Curiosity Killed The Cat. He will be playing all the hits with his live band including Down To Earth, Name And Number, Misfit, Ordinary Day and Hang On In There Baby to name a few. And completing the Friday Night line-up Irlam’s very own Jess Kemp with her band.

We have a fantastic line-up for SoulFest Saturday. Spanning four decades, some of the most memorable tunes ever recorded, and of course they are all playing live!
Alexander O’Neal will headline the SoulFest Saturday of Irlam Live 17 on 3rd June. A career spanning more than 30 years, his ‘Hearsay’ album was one of the best from the eighties and went Gold in the US and 3x Platinum in the UK. If You Were Here Tonight, Fake, Criticize, All True Man, The Lovers and many more, he also featured on Cherrelle’s dancing floor favourites Saturday Love and Never Knew Love Like This.

This year we also have a second stage in the form of a BIG TOP that will feature DJ sets from Soul Boutique, Manchester Soul Festival and Tony Shawcross as well as live shows from Twisted Soul and Amanda Heywood. Irlam’s very own superstar DJ Phil Beckett will host the main stage. This is the best Soul-themed line-up of any festival in the UK for 2017, make sure you are a part of it. It is simply going to be awesome!

The wonderful Jason Donovan is coming to finish our weekend off in style with loads of hits including Too Many Broken Hearts, Sealed with a Kiss, When You Come Back to Me, Any Dream Will Do and of course his unforgettable duet, Especially For You. Jason is an original 80s heartthrob, definitely one a few of you had on your bedroom wall! His live show is still extraordinary featuring a full live band performing all of his greatest hits with a few extra surprises thrown in for good measure… His first album, Ten Good Reasons, released in 1989 went straight to number 1 and went 5 x Platinum in the UK!

Jason headlines our great Retro Sunday line-up, that also features Toyah, Dodgy, Owen Paul and one of the favourite bands from last year, Doctor and the Medics. You can be sure you won’t want to miss it!

And playing The Big Top during Retro Sunday is New York Brass Band, Tony Lewis as Robbie, Men In Coats, The Fairy’s Silent Disco, Kevin Gurney’s Club Tropicana. All in all a fab weekend to look forward to. Keep right up to date, joint our mailing list and visit our Facebook page, ‘like’ and switch the notification on.
